Library thankful for its patrons

0

At the Delaware County District Library we have many reasons to give thanks, but the primary reason is you, our patrons.

On an annual basis, we see more than 1.4 million items checked out for your enjoyment. Through books, DVDs, magazines, and digital materials, you are certainly taking advantage of all that we have to offer on shelves (and e-shelves).

Also, you and your neighbors passed through the doors at any of our four branches more than 1 million times in 2015.

But more than seeing your faces or knowing you’re enjoying the materials and programs we offer, we most enjoy hearing your stories. Our reference and circulation staff hear daily from our patrons about how the library is a home away from home, a remote office, or their favorite place to bring the kids.

If you ever want to share your library story with us, we’d love to hear it. Feel free to call library director George Needham at 740-362-3861, or send us an email at [email protected].

We hope you continue to create more memories and stories with your friends and family this holiday week. As a reminder, all DCDL branches close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, and remain closed through the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday. We will reopen for our regular operating hours on Friday.

Escape the Black Friday shopping lines, and stop in to enjoy a new audiobook.

• The Award by Danielle Steel. Nearing 100 when she learns she will receive the Legion of Honor Medal, Gaδlle de Barbet experiences painful memories and healing when she relives her past as a World War II activist who risked her life to bring Jewish children to safety and to salvage France’s great works of art.

• Cross the Line by James Patterson. When a prominent Washington D.C. police official is murdered, Alex Cross steps in to investigate but his efforts are impeded by a series of deadly attacks by a vigilante killer who is targeting suspected criminals.

• Faithful by Alice Hoffman. Overwhelmed by guilt when she walks away from an accident that destroys her best friend’s future, Shelby connects with a circle of lost and found souls, including a guardian angel, to fight her way back to her own future.

• I’ll Take You There by Wally Lamb. Film scholar Felix Funicello is confronted by the ghost of a Hollywood silent film director who invites him to revisit scenes from his past and gain insights into the lives of three women who indelibly shaped his life.

• Swing Time by Zadie Smith. Two dancers with different approaches to their craft share a complicated childhood friendship that ends abruptly in their early twenties, in a story that transitions from northwest London to West Africa.
