Dr. Graebner now leading Delaware County Diabetes Association

Dr. Jane Graebner, a podiatrist who’s been practicing in Delaware since 1982, has taken over the responsibility of leading the Delaware County Diabetes Association.

She replaces Barb Wolfe, who ran the organization since 2003.

The DCDA has been in existence for more than 30 years and promotes diabetes education and awareness to Delaware County residents.

“Funds have always been available to diabetics for medication through People in Need, and we hope to expand this to include supplies, such as glucometers, testing strips, diabetic footwear and orthotics,” said Graebner, owner of the Foot & Ankle Wellness Center, 1871 W. William St. “We hope to provide more diabetic education and increase awareness of funds available to diabetics in Delaware County.”

People in Need can be contacted at 740-363-6284, and the DCDA also is awarding partial scholarships to juvenile diabetic residents of the county to attend Camp Hamwi.

The DCDA held its first organizational committee meeting under Graebner on Oct. 28, to design a plan for the future.

The DCDA is looking for board members, as well as “Friends of DCDA,” volunteers who would be willing to handle tasks, such as manning an informational table at area health fairs. If you are interested in serving, call the Foot & Ankle Wellness Center at 740-363-4373, Ext. 7.
