A Zanesville man who police allege is responsible for a series of burglaries in the northern part of Delaware County has been arrested, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

Jordan Thomas Zakany, 27, of Zanesville, was in the Delaware County Jail Friday after his arrest Thursday afternoon. He is charged with one count of burglary and two counts of receiving stolen property.

Deputies say they believe that Zakany is responsible, at least in part, for several recent break-ins at homes on several county roads, including Kelly-McMaster Road and Leonardsburg Road.

Officials were unwilling to specify how many of the burglaries Zakany might be responsible for, but said an investigation is still ongoing. Deputies were also unwilling to detail what led them to capture Zakany.

He was arraigned in Delaware Municipal Court Friday where Judge Marianne Hemmeter set his bond at $25,000. He did not enter a plea to the charges because prosecutors said the case is being transferred to the Delaware County grand jury for potential indictment.

A preliminary court hearing was set for Nov. 30 at 4 p.m.
