Delaware County commissioners approved a series of requests made by the county engineer’s office during Monday’s meeting.
Chief Deputy Engineer Rob Riley was in attendance to ask for the commission’s approval of ditch maintenance petitions and assessments for subdivisions in Orange and Liberty townships, as well as the establishment of speed limits in the Northstar subdivision in Berkshire Township.
The drainage improvements for the North Farms sections 6 and 11 cost a total of $317,823.44. The development is located off of North Road in Orange Township. The annual maintenance fee for each of the 40 lots is $158.91. The county has already collected the first year’s assessment in the amount of $6,356.46. According to the resolution adopted on Monday, the basis for calculating the maintenance assessment will be reviewed every six years and revised if necessary.
Drainage improvements for The Heathers at Golf Village subdivision amounted to $1,225,767.06. The subdivision, which contains 129 lots, is located off of Sawmill Parkway in Liberty Township. According to the resolution passed at Monday’s meeting, the annual maintenance fee for each lot will be $190.04. The first year’s assessment for Section 1 (32 lots) amounted to $6,081.28 and has already been paid to the county.
Future assessments for Sections 2, 3 and 4 will be paid to the county at the time each section is platted. Following is the amount of each assessment for those sections: Section 2 (37 lots), $7,031.48; Section 3, Part 1 (20 lots), $3,800.80; Section 3, Part 2 (14 lots), $2,660.56; Section 4 (26 lots), 4,941.04. Like its counterpart at North Farms, the basis for calculating the maintenance assessment will be reviewed every six years and revised if necessary.
County commissioners established 25 miles per hour as the speed limit for the following roads within the Northstar subdivision: Big Bluestem Drive (Township Road 1642), Gingerfield Way (Township Road 1643), Kenley Place (Township Road 1644) and Lovingston Way (Township Road 1645).
Stop signs were also approved on Big Bluestem Drive at the intersection with Wilson Road (Township Road 56); Gingerfield Way at its intersection with Big Bluestem Drive; Kenley Place at its intersection with Wilson Road; and Lovingston Way at its intersection with Kenley Place.
“All of these roads in Northstar were constructed last year, have been through the required one-year developer maintenance period and we have done the final inspection and find that all these roads are in good condition,” said Riley.
Commissioners approved the engineer’s office purchase of a used shop truck that would be utilized a service vehicle, according to Riley. The vehicle is a 2003 Horton 1623 International 4300 Type I medium duty-diesel shop truck. The engineer’s office is buying the vehicle from Penn Care in the amount of $19,500.
According to the resolution, purchasing a used vehicle will save the county about $100,000 while still meeting the needs of the engineer’s office.
