Columbus Zoo to offer free admission on MLK day

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will offer free admission on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (standard parking fees will still apply).

“Martin Luther King Jr. taught us to appreciate uniqueness and diversity in one another. In that spirit, we invite all to enjoy a free visit on this national holiday,” said Tom Stalf, president and chief executive officer of the zoo.

MLK holiday refuse collection schedule

City of Delaware offices will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and there will be no refuse collection. Residential refuse and recycling crews will operate on the “next day” collection schedule, beginning Tuesday and continuing through Saturday to complete the week’s collections.

All accounts, commercial and residential, utilizing dumpsters for collections will remain on the normal weekly collection schedule for the week. Questions concerning the collection schedule may be directed to the Customer Service Request Line at 740-203-1810.

West Central Avenue utility work scheduled

American Broadband Services, acting on behalf of Time Warner Cable, will be installing overhead infrastructure on West Central Avenue between Euclid Avenue and the railroad overpass on Monday, weather permitting, or on Tuesday.

Work will be conducted between 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Traffic will be maintained with flag personnel. Delays should be anticipated and motorists may wish to utilize an alternate route during these project hours.
