Second Ward Community Initiative plans programs

The Second Ward Community Initiative has several programs planned in the coming weeks.

Line Up for Fitness

SWCI is sponsoring a beginners line dancing class.

The class is free and open to the community. The first class will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Second Ward Community Center located at 50A Ross Street, Delaware. Participants need to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Be ready to dance.

Tutorial Program

The initiative is accepting new students for their free tutorial program for elementary and middle school students. Tutors are ready to help students in the areas of reading, math and science. Services are offered at the Second Ward Community Center at 50 A Ross St. Hours are Monday-Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Sweet Desserts Comedy Show

Jamar Haynes Lee a Christian comedian, actor, writer, director, producer and inspirational entertainer will headline a show on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 2-4 p.m. The show will be held at the Second Ward Community Center 50 A Ross St., Delaware. Enjoy a buffet of desserts and other entertainment.

The event is sponsored by the Juanita R. Jones Women’s Missionary Society at St. John AME Church. Ticket prices are $15. Call 614-937-7838 or purchase tickets at http://www.stjohnameccol.org
