Two Delaware men were indicted by a Delaware County grand jury Wednesday in connection with a series of several home break-ins in the northern part of Delaware County.

Indicted were:

• Jordan Thomas Zakany, 27, of 1860 Christiana Lane, who was charged with six counts of burglary, which are second-degree felonies; and seven counts of theft (one charge is a third-degree felony, two are fourth-degree felonies and four are fifth-degree felonies). At the time of his Nov. 19 arrest by Delaware County sheriff’s deputies, court documents indicated that Zakany lived in Zanesville.

• Christopher Michael Harper, 27, of 55½ Wilder St., who was charged with receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, and a charge of identity fraud, a fifth-degree felony.

“Authorities received several home invasion calls in mid-November,” said Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien. “Residents reported missing items such as computers, jewelry, cameras, guns, tools and cash.”

Prosecutors said several stolen items were recovered from area pawn shops.

Deputies say they believe that Zakany is responsible, at least in part, for more than three break-ins at homes on several county roads, including Kelly-McMaster Road and Leonardsburg Road.

The investigation is still ongoing, officials said.

Arraignments in Delaware County Common Pleas Court have not yet been scheduled.

Harper was in the Delaware County Jail Friday afternoon awaiting his arraignment. Zakany was released after posting a $25,000 bond in Delaware Municipal Court.

In an unrelated case, the grand jury also indicted a 36-year-old Reynoldsburg woman on a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a fourth-degree felony; and a charge of endangering children, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Court documents say Haynes was driving drunk on Nov. 23 with a child in her car.

An arraignment in Delaware County Common Pleas Court has been scheduled for Monday at 9:15 a.m.
