No town hall planned

On Thursday, Jan. 26, constituents from Ohio’s 12th congressional district delivered a petition with 1,080 signatures to Congressman Pat Tiberi’s office demanding that he hold a town hall meeting to discuss his efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

Constituents provided a deadline of 10 a.m. Monday for a response from Tiberi’s office.

Monday morning, Tiberi’s Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Nichols reportedly stated: “We do not have a town hall on the books,” according to John Russell, who has led the petition effort.

As of Monday, the petition has 1,293 signatures.

Delaware Arts Festival offers scholarships

The Delaware Arts Festival Association is offering three scholarships totaling $20,000 to graduating Delaware County high school seniors who are planning to study art in an institution of higher education.

The scholarships this year are larger than any the DAFA has previously offered. Last year the DAFA awarded $15,000 in scholarships as well as grants to Delaware County teachers and gifts to area organizations.

The work of the three scholarship winners will be exhibited in June at the Delaware County District Library, 84 E. Winter Street.

Applications are available from www.delawareartsfestival.org, Mary Morrison at 740-362-1495, high school art departments or guidance counselors, and the Delaware County District Library. Completed applications are due April 8, 2017.

The 2017 Delaware Arts Festival will be held on May 20 and 21.
