Deer carcasses dumped in lot

Delaware County sheriff’s deputies are investigating why someone dumped a large number of deer carcasses in an empty lot in Orange Township earlier this week.

Authorities say they received a call Tuesday morning from a woman walking on the sidewalk of Royal County Down who smelled the carcasses before seeing them.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office investigated and found the deer carcasses. Deputies were still investigating Wednesday.

The person responsible for dumping the deer there and their motive were unknown Wednesday.

Delaware County dispatchers contacted the game warden at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to clean up the site. It was cleared by Tuesday night.

The investigation is still ongoing.
