Friends are raising money with a GoFundMe account for a Delaware County woman who was injured in a house fire last month.

Donna Richardson, 57, an Ashley native, awoke to flames on the morning of Jan. 28. Her house and all her possessions within were destroyed in a fire at 10 Vine St.

Christopher M. Richardson, 26, has been charged with arson and attempted aggravated murder in Delaware County Common Pleas Court for allegedly starting the fire that injured his mother.

She was taken to Ohio State University hospital where she remained until recently. Richardson’s internal injuries from smoke inhalation are improving, and she is now hospitalized closer to home, family members told The Gazette.

Locals may recognize Donna Richardson from their school days or from the Walgreen’s store, where she had been working part-time after her retirement from Nationwide.

“Her cheerful disposition continues as she fights to recover in order to leave the hospital. Donna has, and will continue to incur many medical expenses and the cost of replacement of her home and belongings,” a news release said.

“The funds will be for Donna to take care of whatever she needs an take some of the hardship off of her. Thanks to everyone for your continued prayers and support of her at this time.”

Those who would like to contribute to the fundraising can go to the website for the Gofundme: https://www.gofundme.com/3b9repc.

As of Monday afternoon $1,375 had been raised, with a goal of $10,000.
