A Delaware man was indicted by a Delaware County Grand Jury Friday for allegedly robbing the Chase Bank in downtown Delaware.

On Friday a Delaware County Grand Jury returned a four-count indictment against Jose Angel Santiago Cintron, 42, of 18 Muirwood Village Drive, Delaware and charged him with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony; two counts of kidnapping, first-degree felonies and one count of theft, fifth-degree felonies.

An arraignment in Delaware County Common Pleas Court has not yet been scheduled, but Common Pleas Judge David Gormley will preside over the case.

City of Delaware police report that at around 11:18 a.m. Feb. 17 Cintron entered the Chase Bank branch located at 61 N. Sandusky St. with a knife. Police report that Cintron used the knife to rob the bank and threaten a patron with the knife.

Police report the man left with an undisclosed amount of US currency, but was apprehended by Delaware Police approximately 10 minutes later several blocks away from the bank. Police attributed the quick apprehension to good witness statements and a City of Delaware Parking Control Officer.

The indictment states that Cintron made off with between $1,000 and $7,500 from the bank.

According the Ohio Revised Code, the prison term for a first-degree felony ranges between three to 11 years in prison.

Cintron was in the Delaware County Jail Friday after he appeared in Delaware Municipal Court Monday and had his bond set at $100,000.

Police are still investigating the incident and have asked anyone with additional information to contact the Delaware Police tip line at 740-203-1112.

The last bank robbery in Delaware occurred on Aug. 24, 2015, when two men robbed the PNC Bank in Downtown Delaware. They were apprehended by police less than an hour later and later pleaded guilty to federal charges for the robbery but have yet to be sentence in U.S. District Court.
