A sentencing date has been set for a Pickerington man who pleaded guilty to abducting a woman during an incident in March 2016.

Isaac J. Covey, 30, of Pickerington appeared in Delaware County Common Pleas Court on Feb. 13 and entered a guilty plea to one count of abduction, a third-degree felony. The plea was part of a plea agreement with prosecutors and as a condition of the agreement, four counts of rape, first-degree felonies, and one count of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony, were dismissed.

According to court documents, on March 7, 2016, Covey, a licensed masseur at the time, invited a woman to a location in Delaware County for a free massage. Court documents state during the massage Covey “did knowingly by force or threat, restrain the liberty of another person under circumstances that create a risk of physical harm to the victim or place the other person in fear.”

The plea agreement also stipulates that Covey must forfeit his masseur license. The plea agreement does not carry a recommendation on sentencing from prosecutors or Covey’s attorney, Brian Jones.

Delaware County Common Pleas Judge Everett Krueger accepted Covey’s plea and scheduled a sentencing hearing for March 27 at 1:30 p.m. Krueger also ordered that a pre-sentence report be completed before Covey’s sentencing hearing.

Covey was released from the Delaware County Jail after posting his $15,000 bond in September when he was originally indicted on the rape and gross sexual imposition charges.

According to the Ohio Revised Code, the penalty for a third-degree felony is between nine to 36 months in prison. The ORC also states Covey could face a fine of up to $10,000.
