City offers vacation house check

The Delaware Police Department provides a house check for residents who are away from home on vacation. An address, contact information and dates away from home are needed. To schedule a house check, go to www.delawareohio.net/police-department-page/police-services-programs.

Parks department now on Instagram

The Delaware Parks and Natural Resources Department is on Instagram at @DelawareParks. The account will provide updates about parks services and news about the Hidden Valley Golf Course.

Registration open for YMCA programs

The Delaware Community Center YMCA, 1121 S. Houk Road, has the following programs open for registration:

• Spring Soccer for age divisions 4-5, 6-7 and 8-9: League play will begin April 8. Teams will play on six conservutive Saturdays with the final games on May 13.

• Summer baseball/softball registration for youth, men’s, women’s and adult co-ed.

• Summer golf/tennis lessons for youth and adult.

• Youth Fire/Police Academy Summer Camp.

• Youth in Government: High School students participate in a Mock City Hall, State Assembly. Adult volunteers are needed.

• New Healthy Weight and Your Child: The program is designed for the whole family with youth ages 7-13 with body mass index of 95 percent. It teaches learning skills to live a healthier lifestyle in the long-term.

• Open pickleball for adults was added to the gym schedule on Thursday nights.

Shade Tree Commission to meet

The Delaware Shade Tree Commission will meet at City Hall, 1 S. Sandusky St., Tuesday, 7 p.m. in council chambers.

Paint night, internet skills at library

The Delaware main library, 84 E. Winter St., will host two adult programs on Tuesday. There will be a basic internet skills class for seniors at 9 a.m. and a paint night for adults at 6:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required for both events. For information go to www.delawarelibrary.org/event.

OWU to host guest recital

Ohio Wesleyan University will host a guest recital featuring pianist Kristofer Rucinski performing Scriabin Etudes Op. 8, in Jemison Auditorium inside Sanborn Hall, 23 Elizabeth St., Delaware, 8 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is free. Learn more at www.owu.edu/music.

Panel to explore poverty, drug abuse

The Delaware Area Career Center North Campus, 1610 state Route 521, in Delaware will host a free public information program that will focus on areas impacted by the drug abuse epidemic and compounded by poverty issues. Panelists include Brandon Feller, president of United Way of Delaware County; Delaware County Sherrif Russel Martin; Salvation Army Regional Housing Director Melissa Humbert; and Maryhaven Stable Cradle Advocate Courtnie Howell. The panel will explore issues of food insecurity, drug abuse, homeless youth and teen motherhood. The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Delaware County and The United Way.
