The Delaware County AFJROTC Phantoms drill team continued to rack up wins as it nears the end of the season.

The team, based at Hayes High School and including Cadets from all three of the Olentangy District High Schools, was at the Stebbins Meet on Saturday in Riverside, Ohio. They took second places in Varsity Unarmed and Armed Exhibition, both commanded by Eli Smith (Olentangy), and JV Color Guard commanded by Bryan Bresky (Liberty).

They won first places in Inspection and Varsity Color Guard, both commanded by Noah Woods (Hayes), Varsity Armed (Commander Smith/OHS), JV Armed (Commander Drake Hooper/Hayes) and JV Unarmed and JV Color Guard, both led by Bresky/OLHS, and Exhibition Duet featuring Smith and Woods.

Out of 250 individual competitors in the closing “Knockout,” third place went to Alayna Smith (Orange) and first place to Bresky (OLHS).

Out of 8 teams from across Ohio, the Phantoms finished second place for the day, defeating the 10-straight-year state champs Lebanon, and having missed tying with current conference leading Springboro for first place by a point.

The Phantoms will be at Lebanon, Ohio, this Saturday for the last meet of the 2016-17 season, with conference third place in sight. They then head to Florida May 3 for the All-Services Nationals.
