Genoa posts BZA vacancy

Due to a resignation resulting from term expiration, the Genoa Township Board of Zoning Appeals will have a vacant seat available for appointment by township trustees for a term beginning April 1.

If an applicant is selected to serve as a regular BZA member, the term will expire on March 31, 2021. If selected to serve as an alternate member, the term would expire on March 31, 2018.

Members of the Board of Zoning Appeals are responsible for reviewing, hearing and deciding requests for variances from the township’s zoning resolution, appeals of the administration of the zoning resolution by the zoning inspector and requests for conditional use permits.

Members of the board are expected to attend at least one regularly scheduled meeting a month should applications be received, as well as any other special meetings and/or training sessions which may be scheduled.

Members of the board may be compensated at the discretion of township trustees.

Applicants must be Genoa Township residents.

The township’s development and zoning department will accept applications for the vacancy until 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5. Applications may be obtained from the township administration and zoning office or on the township’s website at genoatwp.com.

Applications may be hand-delivered to the administration and zoning office at 5111 S. Old 3C Highway or e-mailed to Joe Shafer, director of development and zoning, at [email protected].
