A Galloway, Ohio, woman has been charged with obstructing justice and failure to comply after she led police on a chase Tuesday evening while she was transporting an escaped prisoner.

According to Delaware Police, Jamie Victoria Jarrett, 38, has been charged with obstructing justice and a felony charge of failure to comply. Her bond was set at $300,000 in Delaware Municipal Court Wednesday.

Police report that on April 4 an officer recognized a passenger in a vehicle at Dollar General as Troy Brandon Tyler Byrd, 29, of Mechanicsburg, a convict who escaped from the SEPTA Correctional Facility in Nelsonville, Ohio.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, driven by Jarrett, but Jarrett refused and led officers on a chase down U.S. 42 that at times reached 60 miles per hour. Dashcam video provided by police shows Jarrett ignoring the officer’s lights and sirens and running several red lights during the chase.

According to police, the chase continued down U.S. 42 and extended into Union County where deputies from the Union County Sheriff’s Office deployed stop strips at the intersection of U.S. 42 and U.S. 33.

Byrd and Jarrett were arrested without incident by City of Delaware Police officers.

According to the criminal complaint filed against Jarrett in Delaware Municipal Court Wednesday, Jarrett admitted to communicating with Byrd over the phone while he was in prison and police learned Jarrett assisted Byrd in planning his escape from prison.

Police report that Byrd waived his right to a municipal court arraignment and will be transported back to Nelsonville.

The pair were in the Delaware County Jail Wednesday afternoon.

Byrd had been sentenced to a prison term for a charge of possession of heroin in Champaign County, according to the Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and was serving his sentence at the SEPTA facility when he and two other inmates escaped on April 1.

The other two escapees, David G. Skeens and Justin Delano Stanley, have since been apprehended.
