Brian Mattingly hopes to help local businesses roll out the welcome mat for new residents in Delaware County.

The chief executive officer and founder of Welcomemat Services operates in 22 states including Ohio. Mattingly hopes to expand his services in the city by the end of 2017.

“Delaware just catches our attention because of the growth that’s going on there,” he said.

The company’s potential economic impact is to connect new residents with local business, Mattingly said. The 14-year-old company provides new residents a package with gift certificates and other gifts from local businesses help build a relationship and loyal following.

His business is able to use technology to track the responses.

“The welcoming package is at the center of what we do,” he said.

In Ohio, the sharpest growth was in Delaware County. Since 2010, Delaware County has grown by 12.8 percent to 196,463 residents.
