The Olentangy Board of Education is set to hire an athletic director for its fourth high school after hiring a principal earlier this month.

John Betz would start his new job at Berlin High School Aug. 1. The school will not open until the 2018-2019 school year.

“John Betz as the athletic director for Olentangy Berlin High School. John has been a math teacher at Shanahan, assistant boys basketball coach at Olentangy, head boys basketball coach at Orange, athletic director at Orange and now athletic director at Berlin. Thus, he knows our district very well,” said board member Julie Feasel in a social media post.

Earlier this month the district hired Todd Spinner as the school’s principal.

Additionally, the board is expected to accept the resignation of Thomas McDonnell, Olentangy High School’s principal. McDonell, a finalist for the Berlin job, announced he would be working as administrator with Dublin schools.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday inside the theater of OHS, 675 Lewis Center Road, to recognize students for their academic and athletic accomplishments. The business portion will take place in the school’s library.
