J. Gumbo’s celebrated its fifth anniversary in downtown Delaware over the weekend. On Saturday an ice cream eating contest was held. Alexander Upton, 6, Olive Hogarth, 7, and Shepard Hogarth, 3, took part in the youth division. Here, Olive shows the crowd her empty bowl.

Delaware City Clerk Elaine McCloskey and city firefighter Bryan Williams battled for the adult crown, shown licking their respective bowls. Despite a valiant effort by McCloskey, Williams took the crown presented by J. Gumbo’s Delaware owner Richard Upton. Several teams made up of community leaders participated in the challenge.
