The Central Ohio Diabetes Association has announced the schedule for its summer day camps for youth with diabetes. The camps are held at the Hoover Y Park just south of Columbus.

The Central Ohio Diabetes Association Kids Camp, June 19-21, is for children ages 3 to 7. The program encourages campers to explore their potential, try different activities, build friendships and learn about diabetes. Siblings and parents are encouraged to be involved in the daily camp experience. Cost to attend is $115 per child.

The Central Ohio Diabetes Association Kids Camp also includes a free diabetes education session for campers’ parents. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Stepping Stones, June 22-24, is an introductory program for youth with diabetes, ages 8 to 12, who want to try an overnight camping experience before moving up to residential camp. The program is designed to assist campers in learning more about themselves and their diabetes while having fun and making friends. Cost to attend is $135 per child.

The day camps for youth with diabetes are a result of the Central Ohio Diabetes Association’s success with its Camp Hamwi, for children ages 7 to 17.

For more than 50 years the Central Ohio Diabetes Association has helped Central Ohioans with diabetes to detect their condition, prevent onset and complications and learn to live well with the challenge of diabetes.
