A Delaware man was sentenced to five years in prison Monday after being found guilty of rape following a trial in May.

Trevor C. Clark, 37, of 208 Fairway Road, Delaware, appeared in Delaware County Common Pleas Court Monday morning to be sentenced for one count of rape, a first-degree felony.

According to court documents, police were called to a home on Fern Drive in Delaware after a woman reported that she was raped by Clark. Prosecutors reported that the victim and Clark knew each other and said Clark went to the victim’s home and asked her to get something upstairs.

A trial brief filed by prosecutors alleges that Clark then dragged the victim into the bedroom, pulled her clothes off and raped her.

Prosecutors tried the case before a jury on May 9 and the jury found Clark guilty on May 10.

At the sentencing hearing on Monday, Delaware County Common Pleas Court Judge Everett Krueger credited Clark with the 126 days he spent in the Delaware County Jail during the case.

Additionally, Krueger said Clark must register as a tier-three sex offender and said Clark will face five years of post-release control after his prison term expires. Krueger said Clark faces additional prison time if he violates the terms of post-release control.

Court documents indicate that Clark has 30 days to file his appeal.

Clark was in the Delaware County Jail Wednesday awaiting his transport to prison.

Clark was indicted on Feb. 23.
