Delaware County Emergency Management Agency is advising Delaware County residents that the National Weather Service office in Wilmington has issued a Flash Flood Watch on Friday for much of Ohio.

The NWS is forecasting the area to receive heavy rainfall from the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy.

Rainfall is expected to start around 2 a.m. Friday with the heaviest occurring between 6 a.m. and noon. Showers are projected to become scattered and start to move south in the afternoon.

Hazards include lightning, flooded roadways, and swollen streams and rivers.

Key points to remember are:

• Driving on flooded roadways is extremely dangerous.

• Sirens are designed to alert individuals who are outdoors to seek shelter and information from a trusted source.

• Be aware of weather alerts from DELCO Alerts, Wireless Emergency Alerts, NOAA Weather Radio and from television and radio broadcasts.

• Have a pre-established shelter location if a tornado warning is issued for your area and go to your designated shelter immediately.
