Free zoo admission for military

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is hosting “Military Family Free Dayz” July 1-7. Members of the military, both past and present, and their immediate family are welcome to enjoy free admission to the zoo and discounted admission to Zoombezi Bay. Olentangy Summer Bash is Saturday

The Olentangy Summer Bash is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, July 1 at Olentangy High School, 675 Lewis Center Road, Lewis Center. Live entertainment will be featured and food trucks will be on site. Horse show underway at fairgrounds

Library to host magic show

Delaware County District Library will host the Tricky Max Comedy Magic Show at the main library, 84 E. Winter St., 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Families can enjoy the performer’s interactive program with comedy, “acts of astonishment,” jokes and over-sized puppets.

Chalk It Up on First Friday

Main Street Delaware First Friday: Chalk It Up is planned for Friday, July 7. Area residents are invited to turn the sidewalks into art. Three categories are available, adult, youth and Christmas, at $10 per square. Register online or at downtown businesses. Then celebrate Christmas in July with a late-night showing of “Home Alone” at The Strand. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. for trivia and prizes. Movie follows. Tickets are $5 each and include a box of Strand popcorn.

Cheshire Road closing July 5

The Delaware County Engineer reports that part of Cheshire Road will be closed Wednesday, July 5 through Tuesday, Aug. 15 for a construction project. The stretch of Cheshire from Tara Glen Drive to Gregory Road will be closed to traffic during the road-widening project, which is being conducted by Park Enterprise Construction.

Encounter the Ice Age

Preservation Parks will present Ice Age Encounters at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 9 at Shale Hollow Park. The program will include a look at the animals and the landscape of Ohio that existed over 10,000 years ago on a hike through the park. Admission is free. All ages welcome. No reservations required. Shale Hollow Park is located at 6320 Artesian Run, Lewis Center.

Bulk-item collection coming up

The city of Delaware will collect large, bulky items on July 13. Residents can pay $25 for up to three bulk items per stop. Residents must pay and schedule in advance at the city’s Public Works facility, 440 East William St. Bulk-item collection is the second Tuesday of each month.

Lupus support group to meet

U.S. 23-Hills Miller work to end July 20

The estimated completion date of the U.S. 23 and Hills Miller Road intersection project is now July 20. The postponement is due to private utility company delays relocating gas utility lines. The Hills Miller Road closure from U.S. 23 to Bruce Road will remain in place until July 20, as well. Traffic is being detoured utilizing Coover Road and Troy Road.
