Delaware Police are still investigating a report that a man attempted to entice a child into his vehicle Thursday afternoon.

Police said the 12-year-old girl told officers she was walking by herself on the sidewalk in the area of Dempsey Middle School around 4:50 p.m. Thursday when she was approached by an unknown adult male driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe.

The girl told police that the male slowed his vehicle alongside her and offered her a ride in his vehicle. She promptly refused and ran from the area, police reported.

There were no other witnesses to the incident.

According to the police report, the male suspect was described as Caucasian, clean shaven, approximately 40 years of age, and wearing black sunglasses. He was last seen driving the black Tahoe east on Pennsylvania Avenue, police said.
