SourcePoint hosts free insurance seminar

To help prepare Delaware County residents for Medicare’s annual fall open enrollment, SourcePoint will host its 18th Annual Insurance Seminar on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The free class will take place at SourcePoint, located at 800 Cheshire Road in Delaware.

Open enrollment, which runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, is the time when Medicare beneficiaries can compare and change Part D/Prescription Drug plans, Part C/Medicare Advantage plans, or to enroll if they missed earlier deadlines, according to Clare Edwards, community education supervisor at SourcePoint.

“It’s a good idea for individuals who are already enrolled in a Part D or Part C plan to examine their coverage to determine if it will continue to meet their needs,” Edwards said. “Plans can change each year, including premiums, deductibles, formularies or drugs covered, copays, out-of-pocket maximums, and participating providers. More importantly, an individual’s health can change, which may necessitate a change in insurance plans.”

The seminar is a free, educational event for older adults, caregivers, and anyone interested in learning more about Medicare insurance programs, including prescription drug coverage, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare supplements, and long-term care insurance. Additional topics, such as Medicare fraud, scams, and identity theft plus wills, trusts, and probate, will also be reviewed.

Register by Sept. 29 since seating is limited. To sign up for the seminar, please call 740-203-2382 or go to www.MySourcePoint.org/insurance.
