Pioneers wrap up 2nd straight league championship

The Olentangy Orange girls golf team secured its second straight league championship Tuesday, winning the final OCC event of the fall with a combined 290-stroke effort at Westchester Golf Course.

The Pioneers, who finished with a 19-1 OCC record, were led by medalist Riley Dean, who fired a 68.

Other Orange contributors included Alyssa Kim (72), Ashley Au (75), Natalia Sompolvorachai (75) and Emily Fisher (79).

Liberty finished second with a 305 — a mark good enough to earn runner-up honors in the league. Westerville Central finished third with a 354, Olentangy closed fourth with a 371 and Westerville North and Westerville South smoothed out the scoring summary with respective totals of 451 and 464.

BOYS SOCCER

Delaware Hayes collected a solid league win Tuesday, topping Thomas Worthington 4-1 thanks in part to three first-half goals.

Brody Kannally had two of the tallies, the first with 22:45 left in the half and the second with 7:26 to go.

Briggy Kannally had the other, making it 3-0 6:33 before the break.

Robbie Milner scored Hayes’ fourth and final goal with 17:10 left in the second half.

VOLLEYBALL

Delaware Christian got back to its winning ways Tuesday, topping host Gahanna Christian 25-6, 25-10, 25-12.

Erin Bauslaugh had a nice night from the service stripe, collecting eight aces to go with 27 assists and a pair of kills. Other Eagle standouts included Lyssi Snouffer, who had 11 kills, 11 digs and three aces; Anna Fuller, who finished with 17 digs and three aces; Sarah Rosato, who had six kills and four aces; and Rachel Sullivan, who closed with five kills and three aces.

GIRLS TENNIS

Big Walnut picked up wins on a pair of singles courts, but a third victory proved to be elusive as visiting New Albany escaped with a 3-2 OCC win Tuesday in Sunbury.

Macie Kercsmar and Lindsay Hill picked up the Golden Eagle wins. Kercsmar won 6-1, 7-5 at first singles while Hill won 6-3, 6-2 at second singles.
