A Clark County woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning along Interstate 71 in Delaware County.

Troopers from the Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Chelsea Marie Dowler, age 27, of Springfield, Ohio, died in the wreck that occurred around 9 a.m. just north of the U.S. 36/State Route 37 interchange in Kingston Township. According to troopers, Dowler’s 1993 Dodge Dakota traveled off the east side of the road, then struck a tree and a fence before coming to rest in a corn field.

Dowler was driving north on I-71 at the time of the crash. Northbound traffic was maintained in two lanes while authorities were on the scene.

Troopers said Dowler’s next of kin has been notified.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Delaware County EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation, the Porter-Kingston Township Fire Department, and the Delaware County Coroner.
