Delaware Hayes students participate in mock trial

Serena Ishwar and Alex Whited, sophomores at Delaware Hayes High School, participate in a mock trial during the 2016 Ohio Mock Trial Competition Friday afternoon at the Hayes Building. Judge David Gormley, the Delaware County coordinator of this event, said participants studied a fictional case revolving around a police officer facing a felonious assault charge after a confrontation with a person in a parking lot. The students had to either argue that his use of force was justified or argue that it was unjustified. Three teams from Dublin Jerome High School won both their morning and afternoon trials and will advance to regional competition. The team from Delaware Hayes won its morning cases but was defeated in the afternoon.
