Shellbark Ridge gets parking restrictions

Genoa Township trustees have decided to restrict parking or stopping along the entry to Shellbark Ridge subdivision during restricted hours.

Genoa trustees approved the action Feb. 4.

Shellbark Ridge Homeowners Association trustee Ron Staab in December had asked trustees to either ban or limit on-street parking at the Old 3C Highway entrance to the subdivision.

Staab said on-street parking by parents waiting for students along the Hawksbeard Drive entrance to the subdivision during the time when school is starting and school is ending at Genoa Middle School and Fouse Elementary School is posing a danger to students.

There will be no parking or stopping while waiting for students between 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., and between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. for the first 330 feet of Hawksbeard Drive on school days; and the same no-parking and no-stopping restrictions will apply for the first 75 feet of Steeplebush Avenue from where it intersects with Hawksbeard.

Township maintenance and roads supervisor Bob Mathews said signs would be installed that comply with Ohio Department of Transportation spacing requirements – three signs each on the north and south sides of Hawksbeard Drive, and two on Steeplebush Avenue.
