Liberty Township trustees have whittled their list of candidates for the township administrator’s job by one-third.

Trustees have cut their list from the original 24 applicants to just six finalists, all of whom will be interviewed this week.

“I am quite pleased with the quality of candidates that we are bringing in to interview,” said Trustee Shyra Eichhorn. “It is a mix of internal and external candidates with strong education backgrounds and career experience. I look forward to hearing why they feel they are the right fit and their vision of Liberty Township.”

Officials said the hope to fill the position by next month.

The remaining candidates are:

• Timothy M. Boland of Lewis Center, city manager in Steubenville, Ohio. Boland also served as the economic development director in Delaware County from 1999 to 2007, a position that he has applied for again.

• James J. Cirigliano, assistant fiscal officer and fire department management assistant in Liberty Township.

• Matthew C. Huffman of Columbus, acting administrator in Liberty Township. Eichhorn said Huffman has “done an excellent job and has made this transition period a very smooth one.”

• Jason W. Nicodemus of Lewis Center, administrator in Turo Township.

• Mareva Page of Powell, assistant vice president at Memorial Hospital of Union County.

• David Hannan of Dublin, chief fiscal officer at the Ohio Department of of Commerce.

Trustee Melanie Leneghan said she was surprised at the number and quality of candidates who applied for the position.

“I was very impressed with the quality of candidates we got. I was really pleased,” she said. “I just didn’t know that we would get as many resumes that had as many credentials as these folks have.”

The trustees’ final selection will replace Dave Anderson, who was forced out of the position in May after eight years in the role.

Anderson made nearly $92,000 per year at the time of his departure.
