Minor accident stalls traffic on U.S. 23

A deputy from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office directs traffic Monday afternoon while a wrecked car is loaded onto a truck. Delaware police report that Teresa Miracle, 61, of Delaware, was turning her Pontiac sedan at the intersection of U.S. 23 and Panhandle Road at 1:39 p.m. when she was struck from the rear by a 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Howard C. Mead, 60, of Paris, Tennessee. Traffic was at a standstill for a little less than an hour on the northbound lanes of U.S. 23 while the accident was cleaned up. Miracle reported minor injuries and Mead was issued a citation for failing to stop at a red light, police said.
