The Delaware school board will consider purchasing a house on West Heffner Street and five school buses at it meeting tonight.

The meeting will be held at the administration building at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The board will consider approving a real estate purchase contract to acquire a single-family home at 173 W. Heffner St. adjacent to Smith Elementary School. The purchase price is reportedly $150,000, plus a closing charge of $1,945. The money will be taken from the permanent improvements accounts.

The school plans to build a 17,989 square-foot addition that would include a new gymnasium, school-age child care programs and expanded parking.

The board will also approve the purchase of four 77-passenger school buses and a school bus equipped to handle wheelchairs. The board would approve the Metropolitan Council to advertise and receive bids on the board’s behalf.

The board will consider accepting the resignations of several staff members, including Sam Young, a science teacher at Dempsey Middle School, and Tammy Ruby, an administrative assistant at the administration building.

The board will consider approving employments of three new teachers: Jeffrey Dapo, who would teach Spanish at Hayes High School; Nicholas Kitts, who would teach eighth-grade science at Dempsey; and Tiffany Swartz, who would teach first grade at Woodward Elementary.

The board will also consider approving a large number of supplemental contracts for the 2015-16 school year.
