Orange Branch Library has art for viewing

The Friends of the Delaware County District Library is a non-profit group that supports the mission, services and needs of the Delaware County District Library. Their primary ways of supporting DCDL and our mission come through financial donations to programs or needs otherwise not included in the annual operating budget.

They raise these funds through their half a dozen annual Bargain Book Fair events, as well as other creative means, like the Piper Kerman author visit earlier this year.

Coming up this week at the Orange Branch Library is an opportunity you won’t want to miss. The Friends of DCDL group has had more than 100 pieces of art donated that they are putting on display and on sale for the public. All artistic tastes are bound to be satisfied. The pieces include local artists’ works, beautiful framing, and a variety of mediums, including oils, watercolors, fabric and photography.

The pieces will go up for display beginning this Monday, September 12, and the sale will span four days: Sept. 14 and 15 from 4-9 p.m.; Sept. 16 from 12-6 p.m.; and Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Get a sneak peek of the pieces online at www.tinyurl.com/DCDLfriends and see what will work in your home or as a gift to another. Click to view the “Friends of DCDL Art Fair Gallery” and you can see each individual piece and its suggested donation level.

Genius. Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth star in this stirring drama about the friendship between Thomas Wolfe and editor Maxwell Perkins (who discovered F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway).

The Meddler. A recent widow (Susan Sarandon) crosses coasts to be closer to her daughter (Rose Byrne) and meddles in the lives of those around her.

Money Monster. Financial TV host Lee Gates (George Clooney) & his producer Patty (Julia Roberts) work against the clock to unravel a conspiracy.

Now You See Me 2. The Four Horsemen return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights with unprecedented stunts and their most impossible heist yet.
