Partnerships are one of the cornerstones of libraries. At the Delaware County District Library, we partner with 188 branches in 28 library systems across Ohio to bring you more books, faster.
We also partner with local facilities like the Alum Creek State Park, where we have a “Little Free Library” for campers and swimmers to take and exchange reading materials during their stay. One of our favorite partnerships is when we get a visit from a local author and have an opportunity to help introduce them to the community.
Mindy McGinnis is a local author to central Ohio whose 2013 debut novel, “Not a Drop to Drink,” made a big impression in the Young Adult literature community and whose subsequent novels are just as thought-provoking and riveting to readers of all ages. The survival story is set in a world where freshwater is almost nonexistent and people will do anything to get it, or keep it.
This Tuesday, DCDL will partner with McGinnis and the city of Powell’s parks and recreation department to present a unique book discussion for teens and adults. Join us on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Powell’s Adventure Park recreation facility for some hot cocoa and a cozy discussion of the eco-dystopian novel “Not a Drop to Drink” with McGinnis. She’ll be on hand to talk about the book, and to sell and sign copies of it and her two other novels, “In a Handful of Dust” and “A Madness So Discreet.”
Teens and adults are encouraged to come with any questions they have for McGinnis about her writing process or any of her novels. The follow-up novel, “In a Handful of Dust,” hit the shelves in 2014, and many fans were surprised to see her jump genres with the historical thriller “A Madness So Discreet,” released in fall 2015.
Rumor is that “Not a Drop to Drink” has also been optioned for a movie by Fickle Fish Films. While you wait, enjoy these new DVDs in the DCDL collection.

• “The Walk.” In 1974, Philippe Petit assembled a team to help him achieve his dream of walking between the World Trade Center towers.
