To the editor:

There are two candidates running to serve as judge with the Delaware County Domestic Relations Court in the March 15 primary election. The candidate worthy of voter support is Randall Fuller.

Randy, a lifelong resident of Delaware County, has practiced law locally for over 20 years and has plenty of domestic relations legal experience to perform the responsibilities required of this newly established court.

Cases heard in this domestic relations court will be about Delaware County families who are struggling. These families will be our friends, neighbors and relatives. We should want a judge who is able to extend the legal responsibilities of the office into a high level of personal and professional accountability to the community he serves.

Randy comes from a family which has called Delaware County home for many years. It is a family that has participated in the professional life of Delaware County as farmer, doctor, teacher and attorney. Surrounded by this tradition of accomplished service to our community, we can be confident Randy will embrace that obligation of accountability to those he serves in court and to our community at large.

By contrast, the other candidate has recently relocated to Delaware County from Franklin County. He served one term as a judge in Franklin County, for which he was not re-elected. He is quite late into his law career, which begs the question of whether his tenure, if elected, would be a “one and done” scenario of public service as our new unified domestic relations court is just being established.

The other candidate explains his spontaneous relocation in part by noting that Delaware County is a great place to live. I couldn’t agree more, and part of the reason why is that we have local residents, like Randy Fuller, who are well-qualified for public service, and are willing to make that commitment.
