Letter to the editor: ‘Both amendments sound reasonable’

To the editor:

After a nearly 15-hour filibuster, Senate Democrats were promised congressional votes on restricting firearms in the wake of the horrific Orlando shootings. Amendments would bar those on federal terror watch lists from obtaining firearms and mandate background checks for sales at gun shows and over the internet. Both amendments sound reasonable and should not invoke knee-jerk reactions that they abridge our Second Amendment rights.

It’s not too soon to contact U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi to seek his vote in the House of Representatives should these amendments pass in the Senate. You may reach him at 250 E. Wilson Bridge Road, Suite 100, Worthington, OH 43085. Phone 614-523-2555. Email through his web page at www.tiberi.house.gov.
