Letter to the editor: ‘Going to DACC was one of the best decisions’

To the editor:

I am a 2013 graduate of Rutherford B. Hayes High School and the Delaware Area Career Center. I actually started my education off at DACC in the pre-school there, so I have always known about the career center. I just never thought it would be for me.

I was wrong. Going to DACC was one of the best decisions I have made thus far. I have wanted to be a nurse since I was about 3 years old, so I attended the health technologies program. I am now a nursing student at Otterbein University and I fully believe that the knowledge I gained at the career center has immensely helped with my education at college.

Part of attending DACC is to get real hands-on experience and I did while going to clinicals, working in the lab and earning college credits. All students in the 26 high school programs can earn college credits and industry credentials.

I’m writing this letter because Election Day is Nov. 3 and DACC will be on the ballot for the first time in 10 years to ask for a renewal — not new taxes — and won’t be on the ballot again for another 10 years.
