Letter to the editor: ‘I have enjoyed years of smiles, warm welcomes’

To the editor:

A “thank you” and farewell to Buehler’s.

My husband and I have shopped at Buehler’s since we moved to Delaware nearly 38 years ago.

Watching this once “best store in town” in the process of closing is like watching an old friend die.

I have enjoyed the years of smiles and warm welcomes from the employees. Any question or problem was quickly resolved without a grumble, special orders or requests were welcomed, and it was easy to tell that customer service was a top priority.

From the service counter to the meat department, the floral department, pharmacy, dairy, produce, The Mill Restaurant, and ACE Hardware, each department was dedicated to meeting the needs and desires of each shopper. And I saved the bakery for last because — well, everyone knows Buehler’s cakes are the best!

And even if you never shopped at the store, you may have benefited from their generous support of local charitable agencies, schools and organizations. Wihtout publicity, they did much to support the local community.

My sincere thanks to George Wisener, store manager, and to every employee in every department of the store. I will miss your friendly smiles, your genuine interest and the feeling that Buehler’s was truly my hometown grocery store.

All good wishes go with you for much success and happiness in your new ventures.
