Although most attention is being focused on the upcoming presidential election, I was happy to see your recent article listing the candidates for the open position on the State School Board. Although the nominees of the two political parties were designated as such, there was no further information about them or the other candidates in this article.

Due to the remarkably incoherent quality of the current state standards, it may be of interest to note that Jeff Furr is the only candidate who supports serious action to remedy this situation.

For those who would like to vote intelligently on this issue, the website of the State School Board has good bios, both for him, and for all the candidates who are not party nominees.

The fact that party nominees seem to feel no need to inform us about who they are, and what they stand for, is rather surprising, is it not? I leave you to draw your own conclusions.
