Zach Garber ran for over 200 yards for the second straight week as the Buckeye Valley football team pulled away from visiting North Union for a 31-20 MOAC win Friday in Delaware.

Garber broke the scoring seal with a three-yard TD run in the first half and added another, a 12-yarder, early in the third to even things at 14.

His next score, a 56-yard sprint to the house, seemed to turn the tide for good. Felipe Scharff’s extra point made it 21-14 BV (5-4, 5-1) with 7:13 left in the third before Grant Owens found Andy Anthony for a 23-yard scoring strike to make it a 28-14 game.

Scharff added a 33-yard field goal with 6:10 to go before North Union’s (6-3, 3-3) Luke Dunn scored on a five-yard pass from Anthony Padovano to smooth out the scoring summary.

Garber finished with 271 yards on 25 carries.

Groveport 28 at Big Walnut 19

Caleb Meade broke the scoring seal with a 31-yard field goal midway through the first quarter, but the slim 3-0 lead was the only one the Golden Eagles would have in the game as the visiting Cruisers took charge on the way to a league win Friday in Sunbury.

Nathan Lawyer powered into the end zone from eight yards out to help Big Walnut (3-6, 2-2) pull within two, 14-12 just before halftime, but Groveport’s (5-4, 3-1) Jashaun McGraw scored on a three-yard scamper early in the third to help his team regain control.

Lawyer’s second TD run of the night — a two-yarder with 10:57 left in the game — made it 21-19 Cruisers, but that was as close as the Eagles would get.

Dublin Jerome 37 at Olentangy Berlin 17

Bears quarterback Jacob Moeller had a solid game, completing 18 of his 30 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns, but the visiting Celtics held Berlin to just eight yards rushing en route to a league win Friday in Delaware.

Corey Hill was Moeller’s top target, finishing with seven grabs for 172 yards and two TDs. Jalen Weitzel also had over 100 yards receiving for the Bears (1-9, 0-6).

Ryan Prochko led Jerome (4-5, 3-3) with 108 yards on the ground while QB Ryan Miller completed 13 of his 20 passes for 138 yards and a score.
