Golden Eagles win OCC match at Turnberry

The Big Walnut boys golf team put together a solid round Wednesday at Turnberry, winning the second of four OCC-Capital Division showdowns with a 312.

Worthington Kilbourne, which won the opener, finished second with a combined 319 while Westerville Norths smoothed out the top three with a 338.

The Golden Eagles were led by the trio of Nathan Tripp, Logan Grieser and Ethan Krebbs. All three carded 76s to finish in a second-place tie. Kilbourne’s Owen Cotterman won medalist honors with a 73.

Other BW scorers included Tyler Goetzman, who fired an 84; and Evan Leff, who had an 88.

Delaware Hayes was also in action, finishing fifth with a team total of 352.

Pacer standouts included Nate Richardson and Parker Staffanni, who had respective scores of 84 and 85.

OCC-Central Division

Upper Arlington took the league lead with a solid round Wednesday at Darby Creek, carding a 289 to improve to 9-1 in OCC play.

Dublin Coffman was second with a 302 while Olentangy Liberty rounded out the top three with an effort of 305. Hilliard Davidson (315), Olentangy Orange (338) and Hilliard Bradley (352) smoothed out the scoring summary.

Carson Meyer led the Patriots with a 72 — a mark good enough for fourth overall. Coffman’s Julian Myers and Upper Arlington’s Brady Catalano and Bric Baird all fired 69s to finish locked in a first-place tie.

Liberty’s Jackson Harris also clawed his way into the top 10, finishing eighth among individuals with a 76. The Patriots’ Holden Orofino was next with a 78, Carter Rutherford had an 89 and Noah Andry finished with an 80.

Colin Dustin led Orange with an 83 while Andrew Lowery had an 84, Max Garske had an 85 and Ryan Ruggieri had an 86.

OCC-Cardinal Division

Olentangy finished fourth with a 335 and Olentangy Berlin closed fifth with a 340 at Wednesday’s second OCC match of the season at Apple Valley.

The Braves’ John McCelland had a 77 to finish tied for seventh among individuals.

The Bears’ Tyson Wooddell wasn’t far behind, leading his team with an 82 to close 13th overall.
