The Delaware Hayes girls soccer team kicked off OCC play with a solid showing, knocking off visiting Big Walnut 4-1 Tuesday night.

Scoring wasn’t an issue as Elise Buckerfield scored a pair of goals to lead a balanced offensive attack. Sara Dudley and Kendal Philibin also scored in the win while Dudley, Philibin and Aubrey Griner all had assists.

Freshman keeper Cali Kent, meanwhile, anchored the defense with 10 saves.

Olentangy Orange 2, Olentangy 2

The Pioneers scored a pair of goals in the first half and the visiting Braves added a pair of their own in the second half as the cross-town rivals played to a 2-2 draw Tuesday night in Lewis Center.

Ava Otey scored off a feed from Kaelyn Valieau to open the scoring summary before Valieau found the back of the net to make it 2-0 with a little more than five minutes left in the first half.

It stayed that way until the second, when Lexi White scored off a corner to get Olentangy on the board with 26 minutes left. Taylor Novak added the equalizer, also off of a well-placed corner kick, with 21 minutes to go.

Olentangy Berlin 10, Groveport 0

The Bears cruised to a lopsided non-league win over the host Cruisers Tuesday night, punctuating the performance with seven second-half goals.

Cameryn Susey led the charge with four goals while Fina Davy had three of her own. Reese Hinkle scored twice in the win and Josie Budic found the back of the net once.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

The Olentangy Liberty girls volleyball team took a set to get going, but was dominant once it did en route to a four-set win over visiting Dublin Jerome Tuesday night in Powell.

After dropping the opening set 21-25, the Patriots rebounded in a big way with a convincing 25-8 win in the second. They took the third 25-12 and the fourth 25-17 to seal the deal.

Meredith Mrukowski and AC Loftus led the attack with 11 kills apiece. Elaina Richardson added 10 kills, Lauren Sackett finished with seven aces, Abbey Queen added 20 digs and Gabi Moulton ran the show with 39 assists.

Also: Worthington Kilbourne def. Delaware Hayes 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, 25-17.

GIRLS GOLF

Mia Raines carded a 75 to lead the Olentangy Berlin girls golf team at the third OCC-Cardinal Division showdown of the season Tuesday afternoon at New Albany Links.

The Bears combined to shoot a 344 — a mark good enough for third place. Other Berlin contributors included Reagan Clifton, who finished with a 79; Iva Horman, who had a 94; and Arianna Murray, who closed with a 96.

Delaware Hayes was also in action, finishing fourth with a team total of 393.

Lainie Rafey led the Pacers with an 87. Maddie Jenkins (93), Anna Thompson (106) and Ava Stake (107) also chipped in.

The fourth and final league event of the season is slated for Sept. 12 at Oakhaven.
