Jackson Harris fired a school-record 65 and Carter Rutherford wasn’t far behind him with a 70 to lead the Olentangy Liberty boys golf team to a first-place finish in the Delaware County Cup Wednesday at Northstar.

“I fed him eight granola bars,” Patriot coach Ryan Snivley joked in reference to Harris’ heroics. “It was a school record for us … the previous best was a 66 by Jack O’Donnell. All the guys played well and it was nice to have Carter and Jackson under par.”

Liberty, which fired a combined 285, also got solid showings from Holden Orofino (75) and Carson Meyer (75). The Patriot foursome took the top four spots among individuals.

Big Walnut nabbed runner-up honors with a 330 while Olentangy smoothed out the top three with a 332.

Ethan Krebs led the Golden Eagles with a 78 — sixth-best among individuals — while Tyler Goetzman and Mason Rush followed with respective efforts of 83 and 84. Nathan Tripp rounded out BW’s top four with an 85.

The Braves were boosted by the duo of John McClelland and Jack Hainrihar, who fired 79s.

Olentangy Orange (335), Olentangy Berlin (336), Delaware Hayes (338) and Buckeye Valley (363) were also in action.

Ryan Ruggieri and Andrew Lowery had solid showings for the Pioneers, shooting respective rounds of 81 and 82.

Cameron Moreland powered the Bears with a team-best 80, Parker Steffanni paced the Pacers with a 77 — the top mark by anyone in the field not on Liberty — and Sam Reynolds led the Barons with an 87.
