Suddenly-hot Pacers win again

The Delaware Hayes boys soccer team crept a couple games above the .500 mark with a solid 3-1 OCC-Capital Division win over visiting Dublin Scioto Thursday night in Delaware.

Don’t look now, but the Pacers (7-5) are hot, winners of four straight and five of their last six after starting the season slow.

They’ve allowed just one goal over the four-game streak, too.

Hayes was powered by the duo of Chaz Sakala and Isaiah Clark. Sakala scored a pair of goals off assists from Clark while Clark scored the other off a feed from, you guessed it, Sakala.

Next up, Hayes is slated to take on Whetstone in non-league action Tuesday night in Columbus.

Big Walnut 1, Westerville North 0

Amadu Bah scored midway through the second half to break a scoreless tie and lift the Golden Eagles to an OCC-Capital Division win over the visiting Warriors Thursday night in Sunbury.

Also: Olentangy 5, Hilliard Darby 2; Hilliard Bradley 0, Olentangy Liberty 0.

GIRLS SOCCER

A penalty kick proved to be the difference Thursday night in Delaware as visiting Dublin Jerome snuck one in late in the first half and held on in the second half to slip past state-ranked and previously undefeated Olentangy Berlin.

Megan Michael played hero for the Celtics (8-1-1), converting a PK with 1:28 left in the first half to account for the game’s lone goal.

The Bears’ (12-1) Claire Walden finished with three saves in the setback.

Olentangy Orange 1, Upper Arlington 0

The Pioneer defense allowed just one shot on goal — a shot Jadia Kershaw saved to preserve the shutout — en route to a league win over host Upper Arlington Thursday night.

Kaelyn Valleau scored off a feed from Kaitlyn Colvert in the first half to smooth out the scoring summary.

Orange, which improve to 10-1-2 with the win, returns to action Monday against host Lexington before getting back to league play to host Hilliard Bradley Thursday in Lewis Center.
