Pacers clip New Albany 6-5 in OCC showdown

Mason J. Davis picked up a complete-game decision on the mound and the Pacers produced just enough at the plate to post a solid 6-5 OCC-Capital Division win over visiting New Albany Thursday in Delaware.

The Pacers had just seven hits, but made the most of them.

With the game tied 1-1, Mason W. Davis singled home Ryan Daughenbaugh to give Hayes (3-5, 1-4 OCC) a third-inning lead it never relinquished.

The Pacers scored another run in the fourth and three in the sixth before the Eagles plated three in the seventh to make things interesting.

Mason W. Davis finished 3-for-4 with three RBI while Daughenbaugh had a hit to go with two runs and an RBI.

Mason J. Davis picked up the complete-game win on the mound, allowing five runs (one earned) on 11 hits while striking out three and walking two.

Buckeye Valley 4, River Valley 1

Hunter Mitchell tossed a complete-game gem to lead the Barons to a 4-1 MOAC win over the visiting Vikings Thursday in Delaware.

Mitchell, who gave up his lone run in the fifth, allowed just six hits while striking out four in seven innings of work.

The Barons plated three first-inning runs and never looked back. Ben Spaulding finished 2-for-3 with a run scored, Leo Wells had a hit to go with two runs and an RBI and Landon Alexander had a hit and a run scored in the win.

Delaware Christian 11, Madison Christian 1, 5 inn.

DCS scored in every inning en route to a solid 11-1, five-inning win over visiting Madison Christian Thursday in Delaware.

Ryan Manny led the Eagles (1-2) at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI. Seth Standley also had a nice game, collecting a pair of hits and an RBI in the win.

Riley Michalak picked up the win on the mound, allowing a run on six hits while striking out nine and walking five in five innings of work.

Upper Arlington 4, Liberty 3

The Golden Bears handed the host Patriots their first league loss of the season Thursday, rallying with four seventh-inning runs to escape with a 4-3 win.

Spencer Yankle had two of Liberty’s (7-3, 4-1 OCC) six hits while Mason Groves was charged with the loss on the mound.

SOFTBALL

Olentangy was dominant Thursday against visiting Franklin Heights, scoring five or more runs in three of its four trips to the plate to notch a 16-0, five-inning win.

The Braves scored five runs in the first, five more in the third and six in the fourth to smooth out the scoring summary.

Emma Spinner and Ashley Post each had three hits in the win. Post finished with three RBI and two runs scored while Spinner scored twice to go with an RBI. Brooke Wells also had a big night, finishing 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Olivia Gregory and Sydney Hall scored three runs apiece.

While the Olentangy offense was scoring runs, Sophie Low was shutting down Franklin Heights. Low allowed just three hits while striking out three in the complete-game shutout.
