Rob Postma, head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Capital University, has been named head coach of the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Ohio Wesleyan University, it was announced by athletics director Roger Ingles.
“I’m very excited to come in (to Ohio Wesleyan),” Postma said. “With the number of young players on both teams, we look forward to continuing the momentum and continuing to develop players so they have the best college experience. The facilities and commitment to athletics are so strong. I see myself being here for a long time.”
Postma served as Capital’s men’s tennis coach for 5 seasons and as its women’s head coach for 2 seasons.
He guided the Crusader men’s team to a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference regular-season title, Capital’s first-ever conference championship, and a 14-5 overall record in 2014-15. The Capital women competed in the OAC tournament in both seasons that Postma served as head coach.
Postma has been the head tennis professional at Brookside Country Club in Columbus for the past 5 years, and teaches at the Players Club in Hilliard. He also serves on the board of directors of the Greater Columbus Tennis Association.
“We are excited about Rob joining our staff,” Ingles said. “He built a successful men’s program and was starting to build a successful women’s program at Capital. We’re fortunate to bring in someone with his experience who is so highly regarded in the tennis community, and we’re excited about the continued growth of the men’s and women’s programs at Ohio Wesleyan.”
Postma is a 2002 graduate of Wittenberg University. During his playing career, he lettered in tennis 4 times, and during his senior year, was ranked as high as No. 20 nationally in doubles. He graduated with a degree in finance and worked in finance for 8 years, earning a master’s in business administration from Capital in 2009, before going into coaching in 2010.
