The Buckeye Valley boys soccer team got back to its winning ways Wednesday, handling visiting East Knox 5-1.
Mitch Rotondo led the offense, finishing with a hat trick in the win — a victory which bumped the Barons’ record to 7-3-0 overall.
Rotondo’s first goal ballooned the lead to 2-0 in the 29th minute. BV’s Sam Scharff broke the scoring seal with an unassisted tally just three minutes in.
The 2-0 spread held until the break, but Rotondo put the game out of reach early in the second, completing his trifecta with back-to-back goals just three minutes apart.
Bill Daily smoothed out the team’s scoring summary in the 57th minute, beating East Knox keeper Griffin Whims for his first goal in a Buckeye Valley uniform.
The Barons finished with an 11-4 edge in shots on goal. Caleb King closed with a team-best two saves in the BV goal.
