Delaware Hayes High School has received quite a donation from a local community business: $250,000 from Chesrown Chevrolet Buick GMC.

Owners Jim and Ryan Gill will present a check to the school before tonight’s football game between the Pacers and visiting Tygers of Mansfield Senior.

Student-athletes representing all the school’s sports will join the Gill family on the field during the announcement.

To show its appreciation, Hayes has renamed its new field Chesrown Field.

“A big Pacer thank you to the Gill family,” Hayes Athletic Director Steve Glesenkamp said. “We are so appreciative of their generous support and belief in our student-athletes at Delaware Hayes. As time goes on, their commitment to the athletic department will benefit a generation of young people in the city of Delaware.”

“Delaware Hayes and Chesrown have fostered a wonderful partnership that strongly assists our student-athletes, benefits our high school and supports our entire community,” Hayes Principal Ric Stranges added. “The Gill family’s long-term commitment elevates our Pacer Nation to new heights.”
