A Tc Queenie has been one of the state of Ohio’s best sophomore filly trotters, and she showed it by going gate-to-wire in a stakes record to win the $90,800 (div.) Ohio Breeders Championship in Monday’s action at the Delaware County Fair.

When the gate’s wings folded, A Tc Queenie (Dan Noble) grabbed the track and control of the field and dictated the fractions of :28 2/5, :57 4/5 and 1:26. Kerfuffle Cookie (Peter Wrenn) tried to mount a challenge down the backstretch, but couldn’t get within a length and a half of the eventual winner. A Tc Queenie cruised home in :28 2/5 to score a 4 ¾-length victory in 1:54 2/5.

The Triumphant Caviar filly is owned by Trish Soulsby and Richard Schaut and conditioned by Ron Steck.

In the second $45,400 division, Consolidator used a patient drive by Chris Page to score in 1:56 3/5.

Kestrel (Aaron Merriman) overcame post No. 7 and took the lead past the ¼ pole in :27 4/5. Page ducked the eventual winner into the two-hole and let Kestrel pass the half in :57. As the pair reached the three-quarter mile station in 1:26, Page eased Consolidator off the rail and cruised home in :30 2/5 to score a 3 ¼-length victory over Kestrel. Count On Cami (Ken Holliday) was another half-length back in third.

Consolidator, winner of the $252,000 Ohio Sire Stakes final her last time out, has won three races in a row and six of seven this season. She is trained by Jim Arledge, Jr. for the Green Acquisition Corp.

Driver Ken Holliday and trainer Chris Beaver took two of the three divisions of the $10,800 Ohio Fair Racing Conference for three-year-old trotting fillies with Soft Power (2:00 2/5) and Evanora (1:56 3/5). Belle’svictoryring took the third division for driver/trainer John Konesky III in 2:00 2/5.

Three divisions of the $12,450 (div.) Ohio Fair Racing Conference for two-year-old filly trotters were also held. Pricey Cupcakes (J. Duke Sugg), Lady Robin (Kayne Kauffman) and Away My Baby (Chris Page) found their way to the winner’s circle.

Tuesday’s 15-race card will have a 1:00 p.m. post time and feature a $10,000 guaranteed pool Pick 4 (races 9-12).
