Trent Davies ran for four touchdowns, three in the first half, as Buckeye Valley ran away from visiting Fairbanks 41-24 in MOAC action Friday in Delaware.

“Trent popped a couple and made some guys miss,” BV coach Matt Stephens said. “I’m not sure we blocked all that well, but when you have a guy like that, who has speed and can make some guys miss, it doesn’t always matter.”

The junior opened the scoring summary with a 47-yard TD run at the 5:05 mark of the first quarter.

The Panthers evened things up when Jack Iannarino hauled in a 39-yard scoring strike from quarterback Kyle Warner with 2:21 left in the first, but Davies struck again, this time from five yards out, to put the Barons (3-2, 2-0 MOAC) back on top midway through the second.

Iannarino had another answer — a six-yard TD run with 4:04 left in the half — but BV outscored Fairbanks 27-10 the rest of the way.

Davies added a 65-yard touchdown run with 3:42 left in the second to make it a 20-14 game at the break. BV’s Chris Santillan caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Ben Spaulding midway through the third, Davies scored from eight yards out early in the fourth and Teren Wycoff carried would-be tacklers 63 yards to the house in the game’s final minutes to smooth out the scoring summary.

The win sets up a key showdown with Jonathan Alder (5-0, 2-0 MOAC) Friday in Plain City. Kick is set for 7 p.m.
